Getting Here & Getting Around


Punta Gorda is located on Charlotte Harbor at the mouth of the Peace River.  It is 100 miles south of Tampa and about midway between Sarasota and Fort Myers.  It's a great place to stay if you plan to tour southwest Florida. 


ARRIVING BY AIR

The Charlotte County Airport (PGD)which is located within a Foreign Trade Zone, is one of the finest and well maintained airports in the State of Florida.  A World War II Army Training Field in 1942, the airport consists of three runways which can accommodate private and commercial aircraft.   Thinking of flying in?  Click here for more information.

National Flights:  
Direct Air now offers low cost direct flights between Punta Gorda and the following cities:  Kalamazoo, MI, Niagra Falls, NY, Myrtle Beach, SC, Worcester, Ma, Toledo, OH, Allentown, PA & Platesburgh, NY.  Click here for information.

ARRIVING BY CAR

Punta Gorda can be accessed via Interstate 75 and Highways 17 and 41.  Exit 164 is the main interstate exit number.   Estimated Travel Times to Punta Gorda from various desitinations are:

Tampa104 Miles 1 hours & 40 minutes 
 Sarasota  54 miles 55 minutes
 Ft. Myers 30 miles 25 minutes
 Naples 65 miles 70 minutes
 Orlando 132 miles 2 hours & 45 minutes
 Miami 169 miles 3 hours

ARRIVING BY BOAT

Perhaps the best way to arrive in Punta Gorda is the way the conquistadors did - by boat!  It's a great boating destination.  Marinas and over night dockage are available within walking distance of historic downtown Punta Gorda.  Whether you enjoy sailing, boating, kyaking or canoing you'll the beautiful waters of Charlotte Harbor.  Be sure to bring your rod and reel!
